Unit One: World War I
Nov 15th – Nov 17th:
- Tuesday, November 15th: We began our unit on World War I by watching Episode I – The Gathering Storm on YouTube.
- Complete comprehension questions for the video in your Humanities notebook.
- Thursday, November 17th: As a class, we watched Episode II – Lightning War.
- Complete comprehension questions for the video in your Humanities notebook.
- Notebook check on Friday! Tuesday’s comprehension questions are due. Turn your Humanities notebook in the bin.
Thanksgiving Break from November 21st through November 25th!
Nov 29th – Dec 1st:
- Monday, November 28th: Comprehension questions for Episode Two – Lightning War are due!
- Thursday, December 1st: Read World War II on the Home Front. In your Humanities notebook, answer each question. Complete the journal activity in your notebook as well. (Fully develop your response using historically accurate information! Be sure to use complete sentences.) – Due Friday!
Dec 6th – 8th:
- Tuesday, December 6th: We watched two episodes of World War II in Color: Britain at Bay and Hitler Strikes East.
- Students worked together to answer questions for Episode Three and Four (due Friday).
- Thursday, December 8th: We watched one episode of World War II in Color: Red Sun Rampant.
- Students worked together to answer questions from the episode (due Friday).
Dec 13th – Dec 15th:
- On Tuesday, December 13th: students watched episode six: The Mediterranean and North Africa (6)
- Episode questions are available here.
- On Thursday, December 15th: Students worked on the packet: Attack on Pearl Harbor: Background Information. There are two answer sheets to complete. 1.) Reading Questions 2.) Primary Sources: Infamy Speech
Winter Break from December 19th – January 2nd!
January 3rd-6th:
- Read the worksheet Rise of the Dictators and complete the questions worksheet in your Humanities notebook. Do not print this worksheet out and fill it in! Questions should be answered using fully developed, complete sentences. You’ll need at least three sentences to answer each question thoroughly!
Jan 10th-12th:
- On Tuesday, we read and answered questions about the Holocaust. Find the reading and worksheet here.
- On Thursday, we read and answered questions about the Nazi Schutzstaffel, or SS. Find the reading and worksheet here.
Jan 17th-20th:
- We have two reading assignments this week as we continue our Humanities unit:
- Hitler’s Blame Game
- The Hitler Youth Movement
- Both worksheets are due Friday.
Jan 23rd-27th:
- We have two reading assignments this week and will be combining English and Humanities as we read The Book Thief together.
- Ghettos in World War II worksheet.
- Liberation of Concentration Camps worksheet.
- Both worksheets are due Friday.
